Baptized by the Tide: A Song of Surrender and Legacy

Soulful Self Reflection - Natale Domini

There are moments when the soul steps into something deeper than understanding—when the spirit tests the waters and finds itself swept into a current it didn’t expect. That happened to me recently.

"I tested the waters.

At first, it felt pleasant. Like something insatiable was finally about to be filled. But then the tide began to rise. I felt myself drowning—not in fear, but in the magnitude of what was being revealed. And just as I reached for something to save me, I realized: God had become my every answer".

A Baptism into Legacy

This wasn’t just a spiritual moment—it was a baptism. Not into religion, but into identity. Into legacy. Into the divine assignment that’s been echoing through generations.

Scripture speaks to this kind of immersion:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…” — Isaiah 43:2

“He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.” — Psalm 18:16

Like Peter walking on water, I stepped out in faith. Like Jonah in the deep, I was swallowed by surrender. And like David crying out in the flood, I was rescued—not by my own strength, but by the eternal love that never lets go.

As” — The Soundtrack of Divine Constancy

Stevie Wonder’s “As” became the soundtrack to this spiritual awakening. It’s more than a love song—it’s a covenant. A declaration of “always.”

“I'll be loving you always…” “Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky…” “Until the day that you are me and I am you…”

These lyrics echo the heartbeat of God’s promises:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love…” — Jeremiah 31:3

“Nothing can separate us from the love of God…” — Romans 8:38–39

“That they may be one as we are one…” — John 17:21

Even as the tide rose, even as I felt myself drowning, the song reminded me: God’s love is not seasonal. It’s eternal. It’s “always.”
